What is gas injection molding? |
|
 |
- Suitable for thick or large products and widely used. It is a technology to inject nitrogen into the inside of a product to make a hole.
- Enhances discretion of product design, reduces cost and fortifies structural strength.
- Improves numeric safety and formability and reduces injection molding cost due to lowered tonnage.
- Here are benefits from product form.
- Easily applicable to products and short gas flowing distance.
But, it is hard to control uniform processing and the machine is very expensive.

- PFP gas injection molding technology is originally developed by NSCC.(1994)
- The major advantages are removing sink mark and residual stress with only very-low pressurized air.
- It is needed simple and cheap control system only.

- Install a nozzle to a thick area of product. - Fill resin with full shot forming. - Void is created when air pressure to a nozzle gets higher than internal pressure. - When volume is shrinking, void is created and then stops when resin is hardened.

- Void is created when internal pressure is lower than the ambient pressure. - Void grows with shrinking volume. - The direction of void is decided by shrinkage.
So, it grows toward thick part or hotter resin. - Void grows stops when resin is hardened by cooling.

What is liquid injection process?
- While resin is flowing into a mold, a liquid easy to gasify is injected into a mold and absorbs residual heat from resin to gasify. It creates a void inside the product using the pressure generated by the gasification of the liquid.
- It is used to mold a thick product and its appearance quality is important. It is suitable for products with simple design.
