■ General Terms and Conditions
ⅰ) Cheil Industries Inc. starex (“Cheil Industries”) values personal information protection of its users and observes Personal Information Protection Regulations of 『Information and Communication Network User Promotion Act』 and the Ministry of Information and Communication’s 『Personal Information Protection Guidelines』.
ⅱ) Cheil Industries posts Personal Information Protection Policy on its website for users to access it anytime.
ⅲ) Cheil Industries has appropriate revision process to revise and improve Personal Information Protection Policy. When Personal Information Protection Policy is revised, Version Number is provided for users to easily compare old and new versions.
■ Agreement to Provide Personal Information
Cheil Industries offers users to choose between Agree and Disagree buttons below its Personal Information Protection Policy or Membership Terms and Conditions before asking for their personal information for membership. If a user chooses Agree button, it is considered that he/she agrees to provide personal information.
■ Purpose of Gathering and Using Personal Information
ⅰ) Cheil Industries gathers personal information from users for the following purposes:
- Personal identification to provide appropriate services (name, demographic statistics, etc)
- Service provision (information provision, etc)
- Introduction to new services, products, and events (via e-mail, etc)
ⅱ) We do not gather private information that might violate users’ human rights protection. We only gather personal information that is open to gathering by law or that is directly related to our services.
■ Personal Information Gathering Using Cookies
Cheil Industries uses cookies to temporarily save and search user information. Cookie is what Cheil Industries website server transmits to users Web browsers and does not affect other parts of their PCs. Once a user accesses Cheil Industries website, Cheil Industries server computer uses his/her cookie and provides him/her with desired services with no additional entry of information.
Cookie distinguishes the computer, not its user. Also, computer users have the option to receive all cookies, pop up notices before receiving a cookie, or reject all cookies on their Web browser(s).
■ Illegal Use or Disclosure to Third Party
ⅰ) Cheil Industries uses users’ personal information as stated on and does not disclose information to a third party, third company, or third organization.
ⅱ) For better services, Cheil Industries may share users’ personal information with its business partners. When personal information is disclosed or shared, Cheil Industries will personally notify each user of the name of partner, personal information items to be shared, purpose of disclosure or sharing, and duration of information protection via e-mail or in writing for their consent. If a user does not agree with it, his/her personal information is not disclosed or shared.
■ Accessing and Modifying Personal Information
ⅰ) Users may access and modify their personal information anytime. To view or modify personal information, click or e-mail our Personal Information Manager.
ⅱ) If you request a correction to incorrect personal information, your information is not used until correction is complete.
■ Termination of Agreement with Personal Information Gathering, Use, and Provision
ⅰ) Users can terminate with agreement with personal information gathering, use, and provision anytime. Click on the Member Page or e-mail our Personal Information Manager and we will immediately delete your personal information from our database.
ⅱ) Cheil Industries tries to process termination of agreement (membership) in the same way we process information gathering. If there is no further request, only your member ID and termination date is kept for one week and automatically deleted after then.
■ Possession and Use of Personal Information
Users personal information is abolished once its purpose of gathering is met. However, if personal information is required by related laws to be kept for a certain length of period for transaction rights and obligations, it shall be kept for the required length of period.
- Membership Information: Purpose of possession, length of possession, and personal information items possessed shall be clarified when asking for a members consent to leave the membership information after termination of or withdrawal from membership for particular reasons.
- Records of Contract or Subscription Termination: 5 years
- Records of Payment and Purchase: 5 years
- Records of Consumer Complaints and Disputes: 3 years
■ Technical Aspect of Personal Information Protection
Cheil Industries uses the following technical measures to protect users personal information from loss, theft, leakage, alteration, or damage.
ⅰ) Users’ Citizen Registration Number, Password, or other important data is encrypted and all personal information logs are safety stored in security zone with double firewall.
ⅱ) In order to protect personal information from hackers and other intruders, Cheil Industries uses non-accessible device and installs Intrusion Detection System on each server to monitor intrusion 24/7.
■ Commissioned Processing of Personal Information
Cheil Industries may commission personal information processing to an outside entity for better services.
ⅰ) We will notify you of the commissioned processing in advance.
ⅱ) When commissioning personal information processing, we will clearly state personal information protection, personal information security, prohibition of third party disclosure, and compensations in case of disclosure on Commission Contract and store the contract in file or electronically.
■ Children’s Personal Information Protection
Cheil Industries does not accept children younger than 14 years of age.
Cheil Industries website does not provide harmful contents, but is difficult to understand for average children younger than 14 years of age
If you are younger than 14 but wish to sign up for our membership, fill in the name, signature, Citizen Registration Number, and phone number of your legal guardian on the provided form and fax it to us.
■ Opinions and Complaints
Cheil Industries has windows for users to submit opinions and complaints concerning personal information protection. If you have complaints, contact our Personal Information Manager and we will immediately submit it for correction and notify you of results.
You may also report your complaints to the Government-operated Personal Information Violation Report Center (http://www.cyberprivacy.or.kr, phone: 02-1336, E-mail: cyberprivacy@kisa.or.kr).

- Steers collection, use, provision, and management of personal information
- Establishes Personal Information Protection Policy and other related regulations
- Inspects illegal or unjustified personal information violation of employees or third parties
- Appoints, supervises, and trains personal information specialists
- Supervises partners and commissioned entities with which personal information is shared
- Addresses userscomplaints and opinions concerning personal information
- Other issues required for users personal information protection
